Overview

For a recent Toyota Corolla Cross film, the production required a key exterior scene set in the heart of Paris. Rather than relying on a traditional shoot abroad, the director made the creative choice to use AI to generate the Parisian building that would become a crucial part of the sequence. New Factory was brought in to execute this scene in Full AI, ensuring it matched seamlessly with the live-action material captured elsewhere.

Challenges & Approach

The challenge was to create an image that not only felt authentic but also integrated organically into the visual language of the film. Paris is a city rich in detail, texture and atmosphere, and any inconsistency would immediately stand out to the audience. Our approach was to design the scene using AI in a way that carefully mirrored the cinematographic qualities of the live-action shoot. Lighting, grain, texture and perspective were meticulously crafted so that the generated Parisian building would feel as though it had been filmed on location.

The result

The outcome was a seamless blend of live-action and AI, where the Paris scene appears indistinguishable from footage shot in the city itself. The textures and tonalities created through AI matched perfectly with those of the practical shoot, giving the director the flexibility of an international location without compromising on authenticity. The film benefited from this innovative approach, proving how AI can extend the creative canvas of storytelling while maintaining cinematic integrity.
